Microsoft is building a 'concierge' bot that acts like your personal assistant

Microsoft is building a Bing Concierge Bot — a new bot for messaging apps like WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger which "does what a human assistant would do," according to a job posting for a software engineer.

Tell Bing Concierge to book you a table at your favorite restaurant, for example, and it will ask how many and then go out to the web and do it for you.

Under the hood, Bing Concierge will likely be powered by the same technology that lets Microsoft's existing Cortana assistant help you with your day-to-day tasks and answer questions.

We have designed an FPGA board that plugs into the Microsoft-designed server that was released publically as the Open CloudServer V1.

Project Catapult started as a collaboration between Microsoft Research and Bing. Project Catapult improved the operations per second of a critical component of Bing’s search engine by nearly a factor of two. Many other applications and services can be accelerated as well. The bottom line for datacenters is more throughput and lower latencies, translating to lower power and cost, higher quality results, or a combination of both

Bing translation app projects real-world translations over text, awkwardly

While you might not want to walk down the street pointing your laptop’s webcam at unfamiliar street signs, Microsoft has made the option available to travelers voyaging in distant lands.

Microsoft Thursday added the Bing Translator app to the Windows Store, allowing users to quickly translate text into more than 40 languages. The Bing Translator app appears to be very similar to the Windows Phone Bing Translator app, with a key difference: typed text and camera images can be translated, but voice can not.

Otherwise, the Windows app can be used much like the Windows Phone app, including its nifty trick of superimposing the translated text over the source language.

Microsoft bought professional social network LinkedIn

Microsoft corporation announced about acquisition of social network LinkedIn. The bag was $26.2 billion or $196 for one share. Business newspaper “Golden Horn ” told about it with reference on official company message.

According to treaty provisions LinkedIn can save own brand, corporate culture and structure of leaders, but executive director Jain Vainer will be submit to Microsoft director general Satie Nadelle.

Nowadays LinkedIn audience is near 433 million people, activity monthly audience size is near 150 million users.

Deal is the biggest absorption in the Microsoft history, 37% of funds available were spent to it. experts consider that LinkedIn function will be integrated in to Microsoft products, thanks to new tools for personnel management on the market.

Microsoft bought startup Xamarin, which has tools for porting programs from one platforms to others and test their work on different devices. Amount of transaction can be from $400 to $500 million.

Microsoft have collaborate with Xamarin for a long time. Some products of this company can be integrated into visual Studio, Microsoft azure , Office 365 and Enterprise Mobility Suite and now they allow developers to create programs for different OS on the base of general code. Speculation about buying of LinkedIn was in 2014- after Redmond had invested in that startup some million dollars.

Microsoft bought Irish Havok company in Intel, now it is new owner of multi platform physical slide.
Accepted Havok developers in the Microsoft family , we will be continue to work on creation of quality games , and also give license for using slide by others developers. We think that Havok will become fantastic addition to our tools and platform components for developers which include DirectX 12, Visual Studio,and Microsoft Azure.

Secure Islands

Microsoft announced about buying Israeli startup Secure Island Technologies, which is specialized on the data interlock. Company products will be used in Azure Right Management service Microsoft corporation. It allows Microsoft to offer full decisions for data interlock together with Windows and Office 365.

Microsoft bought startup in its ex worker Talko

Date of acquisition: December 2015

Talko Service was run on in September 2014. It should change tradition business- conference on the voice cloud calls. There were possibilities such as recorder negotiations, create laying in conversation and mark users, also it allows to add voice notes in legacy conversation.

In its announce Microsoft declared that Talko technologies would be used for adding new possibilities in Skype and Skype for Business. Soliar was established in 2011 and it is located in Bologna and oriented its controllable PaaS-offers to retail commerce, manufacture, food industry and transport. Microsoft goes on to buy the most popular programs for iOS and Android. After buying Acompli  and Sunrise developers  company decided to buy Berlin startup 6Wunderkinder,which created popular task manager Wunderlist. The wall street journal said that corporation  was ready to lay out from $100 to $200 million for buying. the previous night in Redmond the price had not been announced. 

Microsoft bought Minecraft for advancement of HoloLens

Game creator Marcus Person  had done everything to hasten sale of company, but Redmond has one product that can be used together with Minecraft. It is helmet supplemented reality HoloLens.
